Yang Ming Shan 阳明山

Yangmingshan National Park is located between Taipei City and Taipei Country. Yangmingshan National Park is one of the most popular national parks in Taiwan. It features volcanic formations and fragrant blooming flowers during all four seasons. Because of the variety of beautiful plants and colorful flowers that flourish in the park, some people regard Yangmingshan National Park as the “backyard of Taipei”. Due to its tropical climate, Yangmingshan is an ideal location for plants and animals to grow.

The park is characterized by a large clock made of flowers. Water runs around the flower clock and music is played every hour. The clock is the characteristic of Yangming Park. Opposite the clock is a statute of late president Chiang Kai Shek; on both sides of the statue are the cypresses planted by president Chiang himself. The Xinhai Guangfu Building was completed in 1971, right in the center of the park. In addition, there is a statue of Wang Yang Ming, the famous Chinese scholar in the 17th century.

Nowadays, Yangmingshan National Park has become increasingly popular amongst Taipei citizen as well as foreigners. It is one of the best choices for families, couples, friends, and hikers to visit. The park also features popular scenic sites such as Qingtiangang and the Zhuzihu Scenic Spot. Besides that, visitors may also enjoy delicious wildlife cuisine at the national park.

Yangmingshan is all about relaxation and recuperation. It is the first place Taipei citizens think of when stressed out or feeling run down. Fill your lungs full of fresh mountain air, let your eyes rest on miles of lush green hills, and let your body melt away in a milky sulphur bath. Really, Yangmingshan National Park is one of the perfect places to get close to the nature in Taipei City!
